Protecting Personal Data: Who Is Watching Big Brother?
Thanks MHahn for your comments! I totally agree with you, I was also disappointed that Europe gave in to the US' pressure. Another example: Afghanistan. After much discussions Germany ended up sending troops there. Only a couple of years ago they had refused to go to Iraq!
Argentina’s Collective Memory: Challenges in Accepting a Violent Past
It was not society's failings that made the dictatorship in Argentina happen. It was the military. Germany's case was different, in this case it was partly society's fault because unfortunately many Germans were and still are anti-semitic. I'm from Argentina but was too young to realize what was happening during the dictatorship because I was born in 1975. I currently live in Germany. I think it is very important for future generations to be able to differentiate who the real perpetrators and assassins were in Argentina and Germany.
My Industry Is Hemorrhaging: Journalism Layoffs Eat Away at the Watchdog of Democracy
Great piece! Thanks Olivia. I'm a "poor" freelance journalist too and been struggling to pay the rent for 7 years already. To be able to survive I must have other jobs as well. I also thought many times on giving up journalism altogether but I love it too much! So if these words serve of some comfort for you, just know that you're not alone there. Good luck, Vera
