Angeleno friends: Go and see a fresh and physical adaptation of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues featuring a diverse cross section of LA's finest female talent from film, TV, commercials and theater.

Two petitions I found online that urge President Yoweri Museveni and General Inspector of Police Edward Kale Kayihura to stop the unimaginable practice of child sacrifice in Uganda. One campaign only has 24 signatures, the other, which has been circulating since May 2010 has only 1,471. This is NOT enough. Children are being dismembered, decapitated, castrated and buried alive because people believe this practice will bring them prosperity. Please sign these petitions today and share them with others. If you know what else is happening around the world to end child sacrifice, please post.

Thank you for sharing this eye-opening article. I would venture to say that from where I write, in Los Angeles, California, the average person has no idea that slavery exists. What can we do to raise awareness?

Thank you Rachel for being a voice for the voiceless. Like what Kate commented above it’s disheartening that there isn’t a balance between environmental protection and human rights.
Regarding the Millennium Development Goals, I too am interested in knowing what the Kenyan government is doing about education and how they are justifying actions such as this?

I have been thinking all weekend about what I can seriously commit to this year to be a part of the solution. I live in Los Angeles, California and with the recent spike in gas prices I have one friend who has started riding the bus. In New York, I took public transportation without thinking twice, yet in LA, the car is the assumed mode of transportation. Not always, but when I can, I'll walk or ride the bus. Another commitment I decided to commit to this weekend is personal reduction in plastic. Plastic water bottles need to go! I am willing to stop using them myself. Thank you for the point about baths vs. showers. I'm a bath lover, but for Mother Earth, I'm willing to shower. Thank you Victoria. Happy Earth Day to you!

Cesar,
Thank you for sharing this. I love to read New York stories such as this. One thing I miss about my "life in the city" days is the art of "stopping by" especially in the summer when we often planted ourselves on the stoop and friends just appeared.
It was a pleasure to meet you on our trip to New York and I really enjoy your contributions to The WIP.
Happy Spring!

Thank you very much for writing this article and breaking the silence (or perhaps ignorance is a better word for us across the world). How can we show our solidarity and support for the Thousand Woman Protest March in Abuja, Nigeria on March 23rd? Thank you again Leymah, I am in awe of the work you've done, all via non-violent protest, in Liberia.

I just read this article and watched the YouTube video to accompany it. I wasn't really aware of diagnosable nature of this disorder. It would be interesting for me to hear about how BDD affects communities internationally? In America, especially coming from in Los Angeles, I imagine the rates are incredibly high. I am sure there are many young people misdiagnosed and just thought of selfish and obsessed. But after reading this it appears to be a very serious and treatable situation.

Wow Joey, Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. A quality, free and public education is a right yet for so long now it has been treated as a privilege.
You are not the first educator I have spoken with that has talked about this one size fits all program that the D.O.E. demands. Clearly, it's not working.
Thank you for sharing and thank you for your dedication to the children.
