Iconic Photographer Annie Leibovitz Bares All in New Book and Exhibit
Lebovitz's remarkable talent was developing the rapport with the people she was photographing and capturing the unique gesture that would both identify that person and make the photograph memorable. Photos that come to the mind's eye are those of Angelina Jolie in a bath, or of that basketball player (forgot the name) touching the basketball, or unmistakeably of Ono and Lennon's semi-nude embrace.
In a part, that is where I am envious of her, because I count myself on a shy side, so my portfolio is often restricted to photographs of the landscapes and architecture.
She is as well, possibly the last of classic pre-digital, masters of candid photography, on the same level as Henri Cartier Bresson or Robert Capa.
