Martial Arts Training Helps Indian Women Regain Their Self-Respect
Martial arts for women must be made compulsory. It is such a useful thing. But sadly, how many women, we know, who really learn it? I personally do not know any women or girl who has learnt martial art. Yet what does it take to learn martial art?
The solution needs to be looked somewhere else. It does not start and end with learning combative skills.
India’s Domestic Violence Campaign Asks Men to Be Part of the Solution
All these bell bajao and dhol bajao are no solutions. It's just a way to let the menace stay the way it is. I will call it lip service. There needs to be a strong action and a no-nonsense approach.
The solution lies in empowerment of women. There cannot be another way.If a woman is strong enough to walk out, along or without her children, the man will not dare to even insult or rebuke her.Power begets respect, not submission.
A women can be empowered by just one simple thing. EMPOWER her. And a women can be empowered if she is empowered. Simple. Treat a girl child equally or more equally than the boy child. The whole game of empowerment is played and lost (or won) in childhood itself.
If a girl can be made self-dependent, no man would dare to even point a finger at her, forget beating her up.
Will a person dare to beat a wife, if she is earning?
Let us get out of the slumber and start acting. Small time antics will not serve the cause. If the people are really interested, let us join hands. It is much easier done that it appears. The first concrete step is - willingness to empower her.
