An error which hopefully a moderator will rectify. And I was not "sent" to Oxford - in the UK education is funded by the State, the student having to achieve the necessary grades for entrance to the institution of their choice. Again, research.

The Gallup poll to which HillmanMinx refers never asked whether anyone found bullfighting shameful or barbaric. It asked what level of interest people had, and 68.8% answered "no interest."

Rudderless, dilettante, sadistic - you are entitled to your opinions - but, once again, at least I research before I write.

Indeed, they should read the reviews of my book, and should they read the one from the Times Literary Supplement, by a man whose own book I had reviewed negatively in 2009, and who famously tried to force his pet wolf to become a vegetarian (as described in that book), they should also read the correspondence challenging his review printed in the letters page of that magazine, reprinted with the other reviews in full here:

The bull which I fought, as is clear from the picture embedded in the article, was three years old. A calf, as everything from Wikipedia to the Oxford English Dictionary points out, is less than one year old.

calf, n.1

1.

a. The young of any bovine animal, esp. of the domestic cow. ‘Calf is applied to all young cattle until they attain one year old, when they are year-olds or yearlings'.
