First let me say, its pretty good article!
What can be done, is :
1. in all such reviews the entire picture is always missing !!
2. try to correlate all the facts and figures that have happened in the region.

Just for info, Himalaya region is having a potential of 44,000 MW of electric energy which are explored by various private power plant company, even till date 5 got approval and will be constructed, even such type of power plants are going to increase the local temperature.
More and more urban areas are seen along the mountain range which may again increase the local temperature and cause the melt.
