This story is a great contribution to the collective foreclosure crisis as it highlights those who wanted to stay in their homes yet were ultimately forced to leave due to changing economic factors that ushered in an increasingly violent environment. Coming from Michigan I witnessed the changing of the once prosperous Flint neighborhoods into a poor, abandoned where violence breed more violence. Today, I'm seeing similar trends across Detroit area where latest reports indicate that homes are going for as little as $1. For many people this is truly the unraveling of the American dream.
