Thank you for this article, the content of which is much needed by the West. It reminds me of an article of a decade ago wherein a Saudi man bought an East Indian girl from her parents. She burst into tears at the Mumbai airport and was subsequently detained by authorities and thus separated from her captors/purchasers. The article noted that some families are so poor that their children become chattel. Deeply sad.

Marry one woman and you marry all women.
Marry more than one and you marry nobody.
(Arab proverb)

The Obama plan to move student loan programs to the public sector will help reduce costs for students enrolled in the private remote learning institutions. As well, the DoD has excellent foreign language software that could be transferred to the public as freeware to further reduce costs to students.

Fortunately, for families on the Central Coast of California there exist several private schools of high calibre which exercise rigorous scholarship programs. The result is student bodies of wide socio-economic and ethnic background, which, to me, is the best atmosphere to promote democracy. So low income families should take heart that open doors exist if they are assiduous with early guidance of their children.
