Silver Surfers: Senior Citizens in India Embrace the Internet to Cope with a Lonely Future
I came across this just now quite accidentally. I run a social neworking site called Verdurez.com for people of Indian origin aged 55 years and above living in India and abroad. The genesis for this site is my firm belief that retirement/old age doesn't have to be doom and gloom. We are constantly evolving and growing and senior Indians want and need opportunity to meet fellow seniors away from the youth-centric sites such as Facebook and MySpace. They need a space where they can beat depression, loneliness, make friends, share experiences and nurture each other. We have had positive response and are proud to be the pioneers of such a website for older Indians! As population ages globally, there will come a time when older people are no longer sidelined...
